Church Opportunities
WOW – Women of Works
WOW, Women of Works, make small bears and children’s blankets/quilts, which are sent with teams who travel to mission locations nationally and internationally. These bears and blankets are sent to meet a comfort need of a child and are a physical reminder of Jesus’ love. Anyone (women and men, youth, children) can be involved. We are always looking for those who like arts and crafts, like to work with theirs hands, and be creative. There is always a need for cutters, stuffers, tufters, and sewers. WOW meets every Wednesday morning from 9:30-11:30AM in the basement of the BEM church. Contact Peggy Willeumier (814-849-5513) with any questions or just come with your scissors on a Wednesday morning.
Audio and Visual Ministry
If you like working with sound equipment and/or computers – here’s the place to volunteer. We run a full spectrum of audio equipment including wireless microphones, recording services and helping with production of the Children’s Christmas and Easter programs. The Visual ministry of our church includes developing and running visuals for each worship service, helping with production of the children’s plays at Christmas and Easter, and using the computer for a variety of events such as memorial services, and weddings. To volunteer or for more information contact Randy McGaughey 814-849-3181 or Wendy McPherson 814-952-2121.
Families in Missions
Families in Missions meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month. All are invited for dinner, which is provided, and a special informational speaker at 6:00 PM. Our service projects extend from the local community out into the world. Recent projects include scout camperships, and Western PA Cares for Kids. We also help the Hospitality Committee with church dinners and banquets. For more information call Karen Heckman (814) 849-5917.
Hospitality
The Hospitality Committee handles all events that utilize the church kitchen. We sponsor the Sunday coffee-fellowship time 9:00-9:45 AM. If your group has a shower, reception or other event the we will help you if you are unfamiliar with the BEM kitchen. We also prepare and service funeral dinners, wanting these dinners to be a comfortable time and place for family and friends to reminisce and fellowship. To volunteer or find out more information call Christy McNutt 814-759-2122
Vacation Bible School
Our church family believes that providing VBS is very important for the children of the Brookville area. We are always looking for youth and adult volunteers to help with VBS. For more information please contact the church office at (814) 848-2612 or
Samaritan's Purse – Operation Christmas Child
Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ. The BEM church collects gifts year round to pack in the shoeboxes. In November we have a “Packing Party” and then transport the shoeboxes to a central drop-off location. In the hands of local churches, every gift-filled shoebox is a powerful tool for evangelism and discipleship—transforming the lives of children and their families around the world through the Good News of Jesus Christ! Contact Vicki Stahlman 814-590-3114 for more information and to volunteer.
Mission Service - Local & Abroad
Members of our community are involved in a variety of mission opportunities, which is a great way to get to know people and make a difference. We have participated in mission trips to Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Zimbabwe, Mississippi, New Jersey and Red Bird Mission in Kentucky. Adults and youth have volunteered with camp and retreat ministries, habitat for humanity, and much more. For more information please contact the church office at (814) 848-2612 or
